"I cling to nothing, but everything clings to me" Damnation, 1988
The spatial design immerses the audience in a haunting, atmospheric space that echoes the cinematic world of Béla Tarr. Stark lighting, deep red curtains, and bare wooden chairs form an austere, almost institutional backdrop. The runway floor is blanketed with dry, crumbling leaves, evoking a sense of seasonal decay and encroaching nature—mirroring Tarr’s themes of slow deterioration and the psychological imprint of place. As models move through the space, they seem to inhabit a liminal world where environment and self are inseparable, and the elements—like the leaves underfoot—become a part of their garments, lives, and fates.
